Is it normal to experience vaginal bleeding during pregnancy as a carrier?

The rate of bleeding in pregnancy is quite wide with up to 27% of women experiencing this and first trimester pregnancy bleeding is not associated with a miscarriage. There is no published data on rate of pregnancy bleeding in hemophilia carriers. The FVIII in hemophilia A carriers naturally rises from the first to the third trimester thus reducing the risk of pregnancy bleeding. In hemophilia B carriers the FIX activity does not rise significantly and thus could lead to increased risk of bleeding. If you are concerned, you should talk to your OB/GYN.
