BDC 2024
BDC 2024 is coming up around the corner! NBDF’s Bleeding Disorders Conference (BDC) will be taking place from September 12th through 14th in Atlanta, Georgia. We’re back with another exciting lineup of educational sessions across the Consumer, Provider, and Chapter tracks.
This year’s conference will feature three consumer sessions catered towards women, girls, and people with the potential to menstruate (WGPPM). Today I’ll be providing a sneak peek into one of these sessions, titled “WGPPM Treatment and Care: Knowing Your Options.” While our WGPPM sessions were very impactful last year, the biggest piece of feedback we received was to make these sessions longer, so that community members have a chance to connect and get all their questions answered. We’re happy to share that this particular WGPPM session will be a full 90 minutes!
Over these 90 minutes, we will hear from an OB/GYN who will provide expert insights on current treatment options for the WGPPM community, as well as the evolving landscape of care. A social worker will then explain their role in helping a patient pick the best treatment option for them, emphasizing the use of shared decision-making skills to be your own best advocate. These two speakers will then be joined on a panel by a lived experience expert (LEE) who will share a bit about her treatment journey and the steps she took to ensure she received the care she deserved. The session will round out with plenty of time for questions from the audience, as we know many people will naturally be curious about the latest and greatest in treatment for WGPPM.
In addition to being up to date on the latest in WGPPM treatment options, we’re hoping this session will empower you to utilize shared decision-making skills to make the right choice when it comes to your treatment and care. It’s 2024 and you do have options when it comes to your treatment, so drop by this session to learn more about how to find the best option for you.
