Happy Mental Health Awareness Month!
Welcome to Mental Health Awareness Month!
This month is dedicated to raising awareness on mental health concerns and breaking stigmas surrounding it. This year, we interviewed Dr. Mina Nguyen-Driver, a clinical psychologist at the Arkansas HTC. Dr. Nguyen-Driver has years of experience with the bleeding disorders community and has also worked with women, girls, and people who have or had the potential to menstruate of all ages. Watch our chat with Dr. Nguyen-Driver to hear more about what mental health awareness means to her and her hopes for the future of mental health.
I also wanted to highlight a few campaigns going on this month and leave you with a few resources.
Please use these resources to prioritize your mental health this month and share the message with others.
- National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): NAMI has numerous resources to learn more about mental health illnesses, ways to advocate locally, and even hotlines for mental health crises. This year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness Month is the “More Than Enough” campaign.
- Mental Health America (MHA): MHA’s website also has a great list of resources, webinars going on throughout the month, a toolkit, and even some fun graphics to use in your email signature!
- NHF’s Resource List and Crisis Hotlines: Last year, NHF compiled a Mental Health Resource List outlining various organizations and the resources they offer. The Crisis Hotline document lists important phone numbers to reach out to during a mental health crisis. Both documents are available for online use, but are also downloadable PDF’s that can be printed. You can also request printed forms through HANDI, NHF’s Information Resource Center.
