India's Menstruation Man
The topic of menstruation is often taboo among men and women. Even now as a young adult, my period isn’t really on my list in terms of conversations I want to have with the opposite sex. As one man, Arunachalam Muruganantham discovered, this taboo discussion was necessary and his own willingness to engage in the dialogue would help shift the conversation around women’s health and hygiene in India. Muruganantham's persistence and innovation took him to wearing his own makeshift pad and to create an affordable pad and social enterprise for women in India.
